Shaun Finnie for Congress
“Every Texan deserves a responsible government that supports growth, not impairs our success. As a father, a businessman, and a taxpayer, I understand the frustrations that our families are facing - a national debt growing out of control, the cost of living becoming unaffordable, and Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid being put on the chopping block.
Once elected, I’ll apply the same lessons I’ve learned throughout my business career to government - never spend more than what we can afford, ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to support their families and succeed, and never jeopardize essential benefits that matter most. That means protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits for all middle-class Americans.”
Meet Shaun
Shaun grew up on a farm in a family of modest means. When his parents divorced, his mother, a registered nurse, worked two jobs to support her three children and put them through college. From his mother, Shaun learned the value of hard work, dedication, and grit.
The first in his family to ever attend college, Shaun earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics, a law degree, and finally a Masters in Business Administration with majors in Finance and Accounting from Northwestern University. He was an oil and gas lawyer for three years, and since then has spent the last 30 years working in investment banking, focusing on energy, primarily oil and gas mergers & acquisitions.
Shaun and his wife have lived in The Woodlands for 19 years and they have raised four children in their wonderful community. Unfortunately, one of their daughters tragically passed away at the age of 19.
Shaun has long been committed to furthering the education of young people in The Woodlands and elsewhere. Shaun served on the Board of Trustees of The John Cooper School for several years. He also founded an investment club for high school students. For seven years, Shaun taught young Texans the importance of understanding and managing their personal finances, how to live within their financial means, how to make prudent investment decisions, and how to avoid going into debt.
Shaun’s greatest passion in life is teaching and mentoring young people with respect to finance, investing, and careers in business. He gets tremendous joy from reinvesting his time and energy back into the community so that everyone can have the opportunity to succeed and pursue their passions!
